At least five people were injured when a four-storey under-construction building collapsed in north Delhi’s Azad market on Friday morning, PTI reported. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) said that they received a call at 8:30 am that the building had collapsed in the Sheesh Mahal area.
Reacting to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that rescue operations were on. “This accident is extremely saddening. Relief and rescue work is going on and I am taking the information from district administration,” he said in a tweet.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said the building might have collapsed due to overloading and there was nobody staying there.
