In a shocking turn of events, massive violence erupted in the Muslim-dominated Nuh area of Haryana, leading to nearly 2,500 people, including children, seeking refuge at a temple near Gurugram. The unrest was triggered by a religious procession during which stones were pelted and vehicles were set ablaze. The situation quickly escalated, leaving nearly 20 people injured.

The violence reportedly broke out following reports of cow vigilante and Bhiwani deaths case accused, Monu Manesar, visiting Mewat. As the situation worsened, the police intervened using teargas and firing shots into the air. To restore peace, additional police forces have been called in as reinforcements, with over 1,000 policemen deployed from Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Palwal.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to bring tranquility back to the Nuh area. He also appealed to the people to maintain peace and refrain from further escalation. In light of the unrest, Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) has been imposed in both Nuh and Gurugram districts.

The violence in Nuh had a ripple effect on neighboring areas, with mobs in Gurugram district's Sohna setting vehicles and shops on fire, resulting in further tensions. During the chaos, a home guard was tragically shot dead, and a dozen policemen were injured, some critically. Among the injured was Hodal Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sajjan Singh, who sustained a gunshot wound to the head.

To prevent the spread of misinformation and rumors that could exacerbate the situation, the Haryana government has suspended mobile internet services in Nuh district from July 31 to August 2.

As authorities work to contain the violence and restore order, residents in the affected areas are urged to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies. The focus now lies on bringing those responsible for the unrest to justice and ensuring the safety and security of the communities.
