There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in the next 24 hours in Kumaon and Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has issued red alert in Kumaon region and orange alert in Garhwal region regarding this. After the warning of the Meteorological Department, the administration has also come into alert mode.
Director of Meteorological Center Vikram Singh said that due to the moist winds coming from the Bay of Bengal and once again active western disturbance, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Kumaon and Garhwal region.
He said that in view of heavy to very heavy rains, people living on the banks of rivers, streams as well as people living in landslide prone areas need to be careful. In view of very heavy rains in Kumaon region, reports have been sent to the Government, Government and State Disaster Management Department.
In view of the rain alert issued by the Meteorological Department, a holiday has been declared in schools in five districts of Kumaon on Friday. According to the order issued by the Nainital, Champawat, Almora, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh district administrations, all government, non-government schools and Anganwadi centers from class 1 to 12 will remain closed. At the same time, schools in Tehri and Pauri will also remain closed today.
